Biography
Edgar Gonçalves is an architect and co-founder of Escala Absoluta, the studio he established in 2008 with his father, José Gonçalves, and his sister, Joana Gonçalves. The studio has offices in Figueira da Foz and Lisbon.
His connection to drawing began early: by the age of 12 he was already creating projects over the summers. In 1998 he began working as a draughtsman at the Livro de Obra studio. He graduated in Architecture at 33, balancing his studies with his career.
In 2014 he took on full leadership of Escala Absoluta, strengthening its strategic vision, multidisciplinarity and technological innovation — bringing together architecture, engineering, 3D and interiors teams and adopting tools such as BIM and virtual reality.
Beyond his work at the studio, he takes part in local civic and community life in Figueira da Foz.
